In this week’s reading task, I learned about Annotated Bibliography, and I did some research on my topic “Gaming effects on mental and physical health” by finding relevant articles that would help me help me in talking about my topic in depth. Image source: Information Annotated Bibliography Is a list of books or other works, it contains descriptive and evaluated comments about the sources. Essentially it is used to provide an overview of a topic and can help with comparing articles to see if they have the same information or agree or disagree on some things. Doing research on my topic was kind of easy the...

For this weeks extra credit task I decided to do a HEART challenge about daydreaming. Image Source: Daydreaming Article: Mind Wandering One thing the article confirmed or me that I knew already was that day dreaming is a natural part of a creative process. In this article I learned that day dreaming is not necessarily a bad thing, the article suggest that it is a sign that someone is smart and creative. ...

Image by me For this week’s unity task, I have learned how to customize how unity renders sprites, the physics system and how to make ruby collide with the world. One thing I enjoyed from the tutorials was making ruby collide with the world, I thought it would be hard to do it since there was a lot of elements involved. But with a few errors I was finally able to make ruby collide with the world. A difficulty I faced was that when ruby went up the world she disappeared. I thought that I missed a step, so I read through the steps again and didn’t see anything I missed. Reading through the steps I think I would have to change the graphic settings to try and fix the problem. I look forward to fixing the disappearing issue and looking forward to start the next tutorials for Ruby’s Adventure.

One thing that the video confirmed for that I already knew to be true was that your brain grows when "you get a question wrong or when you struggle". Image source: Dartmouth Link to video: Sal Khan interviews Carol Dweck One thing that I learned that I didn't know before was that if kids are praised for a certain topic they don't want a challenge afterwards and they don't like to work hard on something. One new thing that I'm curious to explore is more of Dweck's research in relation to growth mindset in school. I plan on doing it by looking up her research on the internet.

For this semester I chose to do Ruby’s adventure, by completing the tutorial I have learned more about variables, functions and learned some things like tile sets. It was hard to understand some of the new concepts, but I had a good idea of what they meant. I enjoyed starting the process of making the 2D game and I think future tutorials will gain my interest in making 2D games. Image by me While doing the tutorial I found it difficult to understand some of the instructions but read over a couple of times and finally understood what it meant. I also fo...

Effects on Mental and Psychical Health I chose this topic because mental health has been a serious topic over the past few years, and by writing a chapter in relation to the effects of mental and physical health because of gaming , people can take gaming addictions and the bad effects it brings more seriously. At first gaming can be seen as entertainment or a way to distress and to be more social online, but like a lot of good things gaming has its downside. For a long time, gaming has been seen to have harming effects on peoples physical and mental health. Some bad effects are unhealthy lifestyle choices, depression, isolation, and anxiety. ...
