Reading 03 - Researching

In this week’s reading task, I learned about Annotated Bibliography, and I did some research on my topic “Gaming effects on mental and physical health” by finding relevant articles that would help me help me in talking about my topic in depth.

Annotated Bibliography Is a list of books or other works, it contains descriptive and evaluated comments about the sources. Essentially it is used to provide an overview of a topic and can help with comparing articles to see if they have the same information or agree or disagree on some things.

 

Doing research on my topic was kind of easy there was a lot of articles to choose from. I picked quite a few and I decided to read the ones with most relevancy to the topic. Using the active reading technique helped a lot in picking the articles and picking out relevant information. I also plan on making my matrix more organized. This week’s reading tasks was quite daunting at first because I thought I would have to read a lot. But with help from the reading techniques, I was able to gather the   information quicker than I thought.

Game Brainstorm

  My first game idea is a simple idea, it’s to make a game where you would have to throw rubbish in a recycling bin, and it would have instructions saying what can and can’t enter the bin and it won’t have a time limit. The objects would be thrown diagonally and horizontally and to get them in the bin you would have the swipe them towards the bin. There won’t be lives but if you get the wrong object in the bin your score will reset. Or there could be levels, and you would have to reach a certain number of points to get to the next level and the point count would go higher after each level you complete. There would be something like milestone achievements, for example you could get ten points then you would get a text come down from the top of the screen saying something like “well done you gotten piece of trash in the bin”.   And as you progress throughout the game it will get harder, for example if you have more than 10 points or you’re on level 5 the objects would st...
