Game Testing
This week’s
reading was about game playtesting, playtesting is a process where a game designer
tests their game for bugs and design flaws before releasing it. I read some articles
on playtesting to know more about it. And I will be giving my thoughts on them
in this blog.
The first article was “Seven Different Types of game Testing Techniques” the article talks about how important game testing is and gives 7 detailed techniques, I think this articles information is a good guide on what to do or what not to do when wanting to make a playable version of your game.
For example,
it has a list of some major risks in game testing:
- If the game doesn’t create a compelling
experience for the niche audience
- If the fun factor missing in the games
- The game doesn’t include a player-centric
design
- If the Game is not unique, fast-paced, or
competitive
- The gaming app fails because of broken features,
poor video, technical issues, bad music sound, critical bugs, etc.
- The game should have easy to use features and visual design and the gameplay
The second article I read was “Computer games are serious business and so is their quality”. The article talks about computer games in society and talks about its actual meaning. It talks about the process of what actions should be taken when making a game from gathering information to know your audience or to know what type of game you want to make to results from surveys and questionnaires from asking people from your audience for feedback if they like the game, and what tings could be added or taken out.
