Main Assignment - ALLRAP Website

In this blog I will talk about how I migrated my localhost WordPress Site Online.



My first step was making a hosting  account with a hosting company called IfastNet, when I got my hosting details I then started to migrate my website. I downloaded the plugin " All in one WP Migration" on both the local host and the WordPress I downloaded through  Ifastnet.

 I exported WordPress on the localhost and imported that file on the live WordPress,  I then updated the database and login in with my admin details and saw my website live. I used the All in one migration plugin to migrate the site because it was easy to use and straightforward. I used Ifastnet to host my website becuase it had at lot of MB and I was able to import my file eaisly  Two problems I faced was design the website and migrating the website. 


Designing the website was king of difficult because, it was my first time using WordPress. I didn't know the layout and the plugins but when I started to watch YouTube  videos on how to use WordPress and Elemantor  and how to design a site I got the hang of it. 

The second problem I had was migrating the website, get the hosting and domain was easy but trying to actually migrate it was hard, I Overcame it by going back over the notes on Moodle, and  with a bit of luck I was able to migrate it. 



I used the theme Kadence because it had nice layout to start my work from and I had space to add things I wanted to add.

I used these plugins to design and make my site professional , to add extra functionality in the website, to make the media and text content to load fast. overall to give the look and feel of a music blog.

The main elements like moving and  the avatar respawning when it hits an obstacle work, I've had trouble adding the side content for a few days. So I'm thinking of a new approach for the side content. Apart from side content I have had a few difficulties with some other things I was working on. Like the Hud and powerups. But I have found a few videos and websites that are going to help me.                                                                                     My Image: My new approach to side content. I' m quite behind on some of the targets I  set out for  my game but with the videos and advice I found online, I think I will able to implement the extra things I wanted. Overall I hope to make a game that I would be proud of.

Growth Mindset

Growth Mindset Image from  Pinterest source: Pinterest  I haven't heard of Carol Dweck before, but I have heard about growth mindset. I learned about it in a class in secondary school. I'm not sure where I see myself on the spectrum of a growth-fixed mindset in terms of school work. I know I can be better or good at something if I tried but then I don't try because it seems hard  or boring to me. While I've been at OU I have learned that most times I don't take a positive approach when trying to learn something, I also learned that if I make something competitive for myself I tend to find it easier to learn and interesting. Some of my biggest challenges when I try to learn new things is that I would take a lot of information and then I would think oh this is too hard or this is  boring.
