Week 9 Reading and Writing

 

Overall, I think the reading and writing assignments worked out well for me. In terms of the reading posts, I have gotten better at writing and developed an interest into reading articles. In terms of the gaming post’s, I have learned the process of how to make a  game. By reading the articles and materials related to making a game I have achieved a good guide of what to do and what not to do.

 

 Out of all the readings I have done so far, I think my favorite reading would be “How to Write a Game Design Document". It’s my favorite reading because it helped me to understand what type of game I wanted to create and gave me ideas of what other elements I could put in the game. It helped me keep my vision of the game and not stray off the key elements and mechanics of the game.

 

I think my reading notes are helping me each week with my game. As they help me focus on what is important when making the game. And help to know what to things I should implement in the game to make it engaging and fun to the users who will play the game.

 

While doing these tasks each week I have discovered some reading and researching strategies. Some strategies I found was skimming and scanning. I found them to be very useful as some reading material had a lot of information, and it would take a long time to read it all.

  

For now, I’m happy with my game project, its heading in a pretty good direction I  just have to fix some things in my scripts and start adding more visuals to shape the game. It was hard when starting to make the game. Quite a few things didn’t work but by going over the unity tutorials I was able to overcome those problems.

 

I would consider the process of making my game and doing the tasks like the reading tasks and extra credit tasks to be my biggest accomplishments in this class. In terms of the game, it was from, the brainstorming to the Game Design Document to making the game. And for the weekly tasks It was reading, writing and the new information I learnt.

This is my favorite image from my Game Design Document task. I chose because it’s the image I used it  for the task. I found the making of the Game Design Document to be very helpful guide in the process of making my game.

 

To get more out of the reading task's I think it would be helpful to watch a video instead of reading an article. Because sometimes its easy to understand something if its in a video.
