Games MDA

Image
Today I’m going to talk about some frameworks used to help in game design and game research. Source:  Medium The first paper that I’m going to talk about is MDA: A formal approach to game design and game research. The paper talks about MDA (which stands for Mechanics, Dynamics, and Aesthetics) which is a framework used to analyze games. It makes it easier for all parties in the game development process to decompose, study and design a broad class of game designs and artifacts. The paper refers MDA as design methodology, design methodology help guide the creative thought process and help ensure quality work. I think MDA is a very interesting approach to help with game design and research. Because the main elements you’re looking for is Mechanisms, Dynamics, And Aesthetics so you get a good idea of the type of information you should look for and the type of design you would want to achieve.   Overall, I think that this paper gave helpful information on what to and...

Game Vision Statement

Image
Source : Red Blue Games The name of my game is Sliver sky it’s an endless-action fast-paced 2D game designed to be made for pc and mobile devices. The elements of the game are dodging erratic objects, powerups to give you a hand and compelling music. The game would be played in an overhead view, which means that players will have an aerial view of the game layout. And the camera movement will move in response to the movement of the avatar, the camera movement would be like the camera movement in the Nintendo game Animal Crossing.   As you start to play you will navigate throughout the layout of the game and you will see objects fall from the sky, and objects will stay on the ground for a specific amount of time before they disappear.  overtime it will start to get progressively hard as the objects start to fall faster. And there will be obstacles on the ground that randomly pop out that can stop your movement, which can lead to you losing the game.  You can collect...

Game Idea Resaerch

The game idea I would like to focus on is my third idea, which was an endless game of objects coming down from the sky and an avatar on the ground would have to try and dodge them.                                                                                Source:  Animal Crossing World                                                C lick on link for more information on  game mechanics:                                              ...

Game Brainstorm

Image
My first game idea is a simple idea, it’s to make a game where you would have to throw rubbish in a recycling bin, and it would have instructions saying what can and can’t enter the bin and it won’t have a time limit. The objects would be thrown diagonally and horizontally and to get them in the bin you would have the swipe them towards the bin. There won’t be lives but if you get the wrong object in the bin your score will reset. Or there could be levels, and you would have to reach a certain number of points to get to the next level and the point count would go higher after each level you complete. There would be something like milestone achievements, for example you could get ten points then you would get a text come down from the top of the screen saying something like “well done you gotten piece of trash in the bin”.   And as you progress throughout the game it will get harder, for example if you have more than 10 points or you’re on level 5 the objects would st...
